The aim of this study is to review the current Literature about maxillary protraction. Specifically, verify the ideal age to start therapy for maxillary protaction, the differente techniques used for its implementation and long-term stability of this treatment Protocols were checked thaí used only the face mask, combined face mask with rapid maxillary expansion, facial mask with bone anchor,age rapid maxillary expansion associated with the chin cup, maxillary protraction with bone anchorage, face mask assisted surgically and comparison of different protocols to Class íli treatment. According to the presented literature review, the maxillary protraction is an effective treatment with short and long-term satisfactory results, with changes both in the maxilla, mandible and inclination of the anterior teeth. The main techniques for reverse traction are: rapid maxilary expansion and face mask; chincup with hookd to reverse traction; and mini-plates anchored in the zygomatic bone an mandible and use of intermaxilary Class III elastic.
