Telescreening allows, remotely, the tracking of some pathology. In the case of ankyloglossia, telescreening allows the early identification in regions lacking trained professionals. This study aims to analyze the accuracy of telescreening for ankyloglossia screening. This is a prospective agreement analysis study, in which full-term and healthy babies, born in a military hospital between September 2021 and September 2022, had their screening of the lingual frenulum performed in the first 48 hours of life, filmed and subsequently analyzed remotely by two experienced speech therapists. The reports presented by remote
observers, after analyzing 210 videos, showed a reasonable Kappa value (0.25), an agreement that 73.8% of the time it was possible to carry out screening by video, and 5.7% of the time video screening was impossible. In conclusion, the telescreening of the lingual frenulum presents interferences related to subjectivity since it is a dependent collector and observer test. However, it is believed that the standardization of the processes for collecting and analyzing videos for the remote neonatal screening of the lingual frenulum can contribute to ensuring the quality of the examination offered to the patient.
